Patience and fortitude conquer all things.– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Once Upon A Time
the handsome god Shiva would parade around town in his birthday suit. When the brawny god walked by, the women would giggle and blush, completely forgetting about their chores.
Threatened by Lord Shiva’s charm, a group of sages decided that they had enough of this distraction. And so, they dug a giant pit in the ground, and summoned a supernatural tiger and Shiva into the pit. Of course, a ferocious tiger was no match for Lord Shiva. Shiva defeated the tiger in a heartbeat, and afterwards wore the tiger’s skin. No longer naked, Shiva’s new tiger-skin outfit came to symbolize his power and ferocity.
Do you embrace that powerful part of you that is hyper aware of your surroundings? When you meet a new person or land in an unfamiliar place, the tiger spirit reminds you to use all of your senses. Is that new beau being authentic and real? Maybe so, but that fishy smell next door may point to another red flag in your environment. And most importantly, what is your gut telling you?
The tiger spirit also teaches us patience. These ferocious hunters are not quick to attack before looking and reflecting. Let your instincts guide you when pursuing your dreams. There’s an opportune moment to wait, crawl, sprint and pounce.
