Suffering can lead to transformation. And redemption. And marvellous mystery.– Dr. Allen Hunt
Once Upon A Time
there was a fierce lioness goddess named Sekhmet. Daughter of the sun god Ra, this solar deity once went on a rampage and nearly destroyed all of humanity. Her bloodlust only ended after accidentally drinking a lake of blood red beer. Too drunk to finish off the destruction of Egypt, she passed out on the floor.
Violent stories of Sekhmet can give her a bad rap to say the least. But don’t get her wrong. Her violence is never unwarranted. In fact, if it weren’t for the Lady of Terror, who would maintain the perfect balance between the earth and the cosmos?
In addition to being a fierce warrioress of destruction, Sekhmet is also an accomplished healer. Talk about a cosmic contradiction! She can unleash a devastating plague and cure the sick all in a day’s work.
Sekhmet teaches us to have the courage and assertiveness to protect what’s rightfully ours. In the face of adversity, stand strong in your power and take back the reins of your life.
Sekhmet may be ruthless, but she reminds us that we all have choices. You, too, have the power to bring both birth and destruction. Both are necessary parts of the cycle of life. Do you need to clear away the old to make room for new life? Or are you ready to step into a new beginning? Only you can make that choice.
