Goddess Bast
The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
– Oprah Winfrey
Once Upon A Time
When divine pharaohs ruled Egypt, there was a lion goddess named Bast. The daughter of the sun god Ra and one of the wives of creator-god Ptah, she had two sons — the lion god Mahes and Nefertum, the god of aromatherapy.
Known as the “Eye of Ray”, she showered sparks in the home with her fierce protection and loving care. The divine defender was especially protective of women and children. However, this mother hen also had a spicy playful side. From dawn until dusk, she indulged in a universe of sensual pleasures and creature comforts.
Bast Wisdom
Remember that sexy party dress you bought for a special occasion that well… never happened? The feline goddess calls on you to step into your inner sex kitten. So, put on that A-List dress and invite your mates. It’s time to let the sensual sparks fly!
This fun-loving goddess teaches us that all work and no play is no way to live. Life on earth can be a joyous sensory experience when we let go of inhibitions and fear. So, when the music ignites a rhythmic foot tap or head bobble, don’t hold back! Bust out your show stopping dance moves, no matter how embarrassing they seem. Your vivacious, playful spirit will surely inspire others.
Even though Bast is the life of the party, she also knows how to relax. Remember, cat naps are important too. After dancing until dawn, find a comfortable spot and bask in the sunshine. Not only will you get a boost in serotonin (nature’s cure to anxiety), a dose of vitamin D is good for bones, teeth and skin. Just make sure that sun-kissed glow doesn’t turn into a lobster burn!
